Giddy Un-birthday MaDnEsS

First, the big news-

WE GOT ACCEPTED TO THE HANDMADE SHOP!!!!!

Yay, yay, yay, yay, yay. Also, um, *freaking out*.

Now Danielle Kathleen has to choose 20 of the very best designs  (and with over... um... 70? ...designs, that's soooo hard to choose!) to put into the shop, and they simply MUST BE the very best. The problem being, um, we're nearly sold out of some... So, on to order more! You could help, even, by saying which 20 are totally not lame! Yay.

Another way way awesome thing happening, oh... right about now...

It's our Un-Birthday! I know! 6 months! How could this all happen so quickly?! Danielle Kathleen was born in September last year when in defense against exams Miss Danni put mouse cursor to computer screen and drew her very first design (A bunny! Awwww). Sadly, the bunny didn't pan out- but Danielle Kathleen Jewellery did!

In the wonderful event of our very merry Un-Birthday Danielle Kathleen have decided to celebrate in a craaaazy, wacky way! A Very Merry Un-Birthday To Me SECRET SALE!

Tomorrow, 27th of March (Saturday!), from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm we're a'setting up shop, yes'um, and if you say the crazy mysterious secret sale code words *shifty look, whispers* "Victorian Gothic Sale!* *gasp* you will receive a truly amaaaaazing $5.00 off your purchase! I know, it's insane! $5.00! You could use that to buy... two student coffees! OOOOOO!

Can you tell how GIDDY we truly, really, wonderfully are??

Come to Gorman House tomorrow, eat something, spend your extra $5.00 of vintage cr- uh- stuff on the stall next door and say "Happy Un-Birthday, pretty lady!" We'll cry if you don't!

Markets, Shop Presence and Victorian Gardens

Wow!

We're half way through March, and leaping into the new year! We've been tripping through our first couple of markets of the year and it's been exhausting! The response to the Circus has been fantastic, and we've even sold out of several designs. Don't worry, though, lovely shoppers- we've ordered for more of all your favorites.

These last couple of markets have revealed to us a pressing question from our customers- does Danielle Kathleen have a shop presence?? Well, this week we took steps to finding a lovely little boutique to show all our jewellery off in! In fact, a big push to take this honestly daunting step was receiving such a lovely email from Julie Nichols of Handmade Market: shophandmadecanberra.blogspot.com
Julie saw Danielle Kathleen via our Etsy store and expressed her interest in our work for the Handmade Markets. However, the same email answered our prayers- a shop, commission free (to keep prices low for all you lovely shoppers!) and surrounded by products we'd be proud to be shown next to! Crossing our fingers, holding our breath, we took the leap- and emailed the Handmade team. Currently we've just sent in our application, and if that's successful then we might get an interview, and then eventually, maybe, possibly a place where Danielle Kathleen has a permanent home in Canberra.
Other stores we've looked at, including the oh-so-amazing Itrip Iskip of Braddon, the lovely Department of the Exterior in Manuka, the very new Gift Pod in the City (this one stocks A Skulk of Foxes, which employs images and techniques not dissimilar to Danielle Kathleen's own), and one or two others. Some were ruled out completely, others hesitantly considered, and still others subtly approached. This moment is crazy scary for us! What if we're rejected, what if it doesn't work out? There might be a few butterflies in the new range considering how rampant they are in our belly!

Now, onto the great news. A week ago we asked our Facebook group: who wants to know what our new range is? Well, thank you to the lovely Megan and the lovely Courtney for your crazy eager responses, and to everyone who checks back in to see if we've posted yet. We can eagerly reveal the newest pieces, a collection we're naming "Victorian Gothic". This collection is a biiit smaller than our last, but the beautiful images more than make up for this. Are you all as excited as we are? You are?! Ok, here we go!

As you can see, much of our newest range is exploring the lace collar look, drawing on inspiration from antique laces, and some beautiful floral motifs. Gathered in amongst these intricate lace patterns are images of animals and creepy crawlies, perching in place of our more human characters of previous collections.

In terms of design, this design session moves on from the double brooch focus in the Circus collection and aims to create more pendants and necklaces, well suited to the lace collars we've explored. Also, noticing the positive response our lovely fans have to the double layers in some of jewellery, and in attempt to keep the intricacy of the lace with the stability of a more solid design, we've included many of these designs as layered pieces. Layered pieces in previous collections include our Cicada brooches and the Magic Mirror pendants.

These three images, the first to be revealed, are all designs for fantastic necklaces. They will be suspended on chain, and hang boldly about your neck. They aren't for the faint hearted either! Bold, sexy, these designs will complete the fashion statement outfit you've been dying to show off!
We hope you all love the new designs- they'll be ordered over the next week, expect them amongst our fantastic hand built display in the next month or so.

Love you all, loyal readers, and happy shopping!
