A Handful of Memories- Debut Invite

You're invited to witness the debut of the latest line of jewelery by Danielle Kathleen! Danielle Kathleen, along with her beautiful colleagues Natalee Byron (printmaking) and Georgia Harrison (biscuits and more!) will be holding a stall to show their latest creations. Come and visit us, have a fantastic day and, later, celebrate Halloween! This Saturday, the 31st of October, is the launch of Canberra's Spring Out festival. To celebrate the occasion the Aids Action Council is running a Fair Day at Westlund House- just around the corner from the School of Art and the Film and Sound Archive! "SpringOut Fairday is Canberra's LGBT community day. The annual Fairday is a marvellous day out for the whole family, bring your kids, bring you pets. Sunshine, great stalls, beautiful people, relaxed atmosphere. What could be more pleasant for a Saturday afternoon in Spring? Fairday 2009 will include drag kings and queens, performances by local artists, the Canberra Gay and Lesbian Qwire, a children's treasure hunt, and - back for another year - the ever popular Pet Parade!" The day runs from 12.00 until 5.00, @ Westlund House, Gordon Street, Acton. Please do come, just to show your support and grab a bite to eat if nothing else! We love you all- xxx Danielle Kathleen and friends!

"A Handful of Memories" - Second Wave

Ponoko have come through, like they said they would, and my final pieces of the "Handful of Memories I" series has been completed! See my Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Danielle-Kathleen) for the final designs and prices.

The crazy thing is that during the last couple of weeks, while waiting for my jewelery designs to appear, I've designed three more "Memories" sets.

We have: "A Handful of Memories II - Fairytales", "A Handful of Memories III - Militia" and "A Handful of Memories IV- Over Tea, We". All sorts of fun creatures and critters, objects mundane and marvellous, like giant black ants and Lady guns and hot air balloons, are present. Let's see how the world likes "Memories I" first, however.

"A Handful of Memories" - First Wave

The latest project, "A Handful of Memories," was created electronically and laser cut by the company Ponoko. Today I received the first part of the new line, which mostly includes these White Rabbits and some bugs and beasties as brooches, pendants and hairpins. I'm incredibly excited to see some of the dreams of Danielle Kathleen come to life! For their debut I'm going to have a stall at the Spring Out Festival launch, at Westlund House near the School of Art, ANU and the National Film and Sound Archive. The launch is a fair day run by the Aids Action Council, and supports the local LGBITQ community, and runs all day on Saturday, the 31st of October.

Excited? I know I am!

Many of the pieces are based on fairytales and childhood memories. There are thistles, magic mirrors and voodoo dolls, and the eccentric mix will titillate your own memories, conjuring the the obsessions and adventures of childhood.

Hopefully I'll see a few favourite people on the 31st, and that the "Memories" are cherished by all.
